Best Italian restaurant in the area! Their pizza is spectacular! Best calamari around! Staff is attentive and fantastic! I recommend any of there subs! My favorite pizza is Simones special! When I get Italian, I get Mimmos!

I've not yet had a super pizza from Mimmo's. I think, on their menu, the best items are calzones and desserts. The sandwiches are nothing special and the pasta dishes are OK, the best of all of them is a toss between the carbonara and the veal parmigiana. Mimmo's tries really hard to set themselves apart as a fine Italian cuisine but it just doesn't seem to have that much going for it. Again, I HIGHLY recommend the desserts, namely the cannolis and the zeppoles: fantastic every time. The service isn't spot on. I've found myself waiting at the take out counter for 10 minutes or more to pick up food. Even then the counter staff seems very distracted. The waitstaff is very young and don't seem to know how to manage a busy establishment. I think they could use a bit more on the spot management to get the service up to par. Otherwise, great location, outdoor seating and no bad food. If you run out of Italian options try Mimmo's. But just know it won't be very cheap.

Whenever I'm in St. Albans I always eat at Mimmo's. Not for the pizza, although that is good, but for something that's not on the menu. Ask for the chicken francaise. It is so delicious! When you ask for it, the waitstaff will look at you funny, but trust me. They will make it for you. I've been to Italy many times and while this is American-Italian and not from Napoli or Roma, this is more NY style, which is delicious! Mimmo's has the best Italian food north of Burlington, and definitely the best in Franklin County by far.

I lived in VT until I was 14 and never once ate at Mimmo's. I went back to visit last month and decided to give it a try. I cant believe what I missed! I had a greek salad, fried ravioli and a cheese pizza. All of which where delicious. They have THE best sauce. And I was told if the guys that make the pizza think your cute they'll do tricks with the pizza dough...I cant wait to go back

I may update this after I have tried a few more things on the menu....but this is where it stands right now. We have been a few times. This was my first time ordering gluten free. The kid got a cheese and black olive normal pizza. She said it was ok but likes others better. I ordered off the gluten free menu and ordered the Greek pizza. Kid pizza came out first but the gf pizza was sadly undercooked. I ended up sending it back and it ended up coming out a bit better. Now I ordered from the available specialty pizzas for two reasons...I've worked in pizza places before and know that you can get a soggy pizza from too many toppings. I (wrongly) assumed that they would know what toppings worked well with the crust. ah well. Our friend got a lunch portion of ravioli and said it was the perfect portion size but wasn't anything special. I don't mind giving it another try based on the other recommendations here. Service was so-so...friendly but slow. I do like that there are quite a few gluten free vegetarian options. Ask for the gluten free menu!!! As for cross contamination I cannot comment. I don't have problems with random bits of gluten but I don't think they have a dedicated gluten free food prep area.

Mimmo's is a special place for st albans. It is located on main street near to town's highschool. For someone who only visits st albans to see family getting their buffalo chicken pizza is a must. It is by far my favorite place to get a buffalo chicken in New England. It is an all around well put together pie. I know that all of the dishes on the menu are all good but the go to item is the buffalo chicken pizza. If you are a first timer to Mimmo's I recommend this pie.

Was "ok". I think the earlier review that mentioned flavor missing was spot on. A little pricey for the quality received in return. Spent $20 for a chicken parm sub, fries and drink and it was just..... "Ok". Cool atmosphere with outdoor dining right on Main St, but really...besides that it's mezza mezza.

Had the Sicilian pizza and it was terrible. They took it off the bill. The waitstaff was great though.

We were just passing through town around dinner time and stopped Mimmos. We ordered a chicken tomato basil pizza. It was served quick and hot and was quite good. The crust was baked well and the ingredients seemed fresh and flavorful.

Had the carbonara, generous portion and quite good. Wasn't overly greasy like some I've had. Prices were fair and service was friendly. Not a bad spot at all for a weekday lunch out.

SERVICE SUCKS!!!!!!! Waited 15 minutes to get initial service once we were seated. Food was cold. They took the same cold pizza and threw it back in the oven!!!! The owner actually defended this stating that he has been doing this for 30 years. Apparently serving cold crappy food for 30 years

I've been to mimmo's many times, maybe a upward of 20 times in the past 2 years. I have not once had bad food or bad service here. The girls who work here are very nice and good waitresses, attentive and can be funny. The pizzas are pretty good, the subs are decent, for some reason I really love the calzones here, they are really good and hit the spot when I'm crazing a calzone! The pasta is alright, but IMO olive garden is much, much better. For my drink, I always get a Shirley temple! We come here when we are planning a dinner date and looking for a nice, fairly romantic place to eat. We usually come later in the evening to beat the crowd because sometimes this place can be very busy and loud.

Super yummy assortment of real Italian food. I love watching the chefs behind the counter hand toss our pizza--it adds to the ambiance. Try the Balsamic Chicken Salad; a neat combination of balsamic flavored and pene pasta!

Got a surprise "I'll buy dinner" last night, the only condition being it had to be at Mimmo's. We got there at 5:45 and it was already busy. We sat at the bar and, in consideration of all the families waiting for tables, we ate at the bar. She got regular calzone, me linguine with white clam sauce, both with side salads and garlic bread. Her calzone and greek salad were good, my linguine and white clam sauce was good, a little bland-tasting. Salad was fine. Garlic bread was more than enough for both of us. Beer selection looked rather generic, no mention of craft beers, although I noticed my Labatts was served in a Switchback Brewery pint glass. I'll remember to ask about that again sometime. Service was very good despite the frantic atmosphere. Men's restroom was clean and functional. Mimmo's has delivery, but only for lunch, which is a nod for the local shops and business. Parking is on the street. I used a lot in the back but later realized it was a private lot. No consequence, but don't use that lot.

Food is good, but def too long of a wait and it's kinda pricey for the portion sizes.

I have lived here since they opened like 20 years ago.... Idk what the big "to do " with mimmos? There waitresses are mean, food alright. But, for me to take my mom to LUNCH it's no less than 50$, with no alcohol... Props on garlic knots, but that's Abt it..... I miss it when it first opened, and they were actually running a business.

When in doubt, choose Mimmo's. The menu is extensive, with something for everyone. The prices are fair. You are greeted warmly by someone (usually a chef) when you walk in and the service is efficient. The pizza is yummy and there are many different options to choose from. The pasta dishes are also delicious, mostly due to their famous marinara. My favorite meal here is a Greek salad with a few (well, sometimes more than a few) garlic knots and one or two local brewskies. The aforementioned garlic knots are particularly good and my friend requested we eat here more than once during her brief stay so she could get her groove on with the garlic knots.

I've been here a few times over the past 10+ years, and I've never been incredibly impressed. It seems really expensive for St. Albans Vermont. I ordered 3 pizzas this weekend and they were good - although my mushroom pizza had barely any mushrooms at all. I appreciate that they used portabella's but I'd rather they use cheaper/smaller white mushrooms and actually have mushroom over half the pizza than what I got. I also do not appreciate that their Hawain comes with bacon - I think we have enough overweight people in St. Albans to be adding extra fatty heart attack food to something that's already so fattening. Overall I've never had a bad experience here - but never one that's blown my socks off either! Enjoy :)

While growing up in the area 10+ years ago - Mimmos was a revelation. New York style hand tossed pizzas, great baked dishes, pasta etc. Now 10 years on, and back in town I have to wonder if they've let their quality slip a bit. I've been less impressed w/ their pizzas, bread has been stale on a sandwich, and pastas drenched. I wonder if they've neglected this spot since they opened their Essex restaurant? Also curious how sanitary it is in the back - I've been made a bit sick from a salad, and interestingly enough heard similar stories from family. Anecdotal evidence, so take as you will. Overall i think Mimmos still has great recipes, and the atmosphere is much better than Pie in the Sky, but they need to tighten up and refocus their energy quality preparation.

Have just built a wood fired pizza oven. Has added a new, innovative cachet to a long established business. We had a delightful meal including app, salad and 3 bar items plus generous Neapolitan style Margherita pizza for less than 45.00. Sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the very organized efficient kitchen working as a team. Mimmos really seems to be keeping they're edge despite construction issues right in the front door, don't give up on the parking at the moment, it's just around the corner behind Mimmos.

Pizza is a B+ compared to the midwest, (freaking challah)!!!!. It ain't Boston pie though, so I can't give them magna cum laude. I've been disappointed with the pasta here, and you can't really judge a salad unless a bird takes a poop in it or its filled with chunks of gold...cause really, salad is mostly....salad.... I need to stop eating their pizza though, ain't helpin this girl reel in any honey..

Awesome if your in St Albans a must go. Plenty of food at a good price. Our waitress more then earned her 20% tip.

Guys - If you happen to be the area and love Italian food, do yourself a favor and eat at this place. The food is other worldly, perhaps this is what the Romans ate? Whenever I visit Vermont, I will not miss a chance to eat at Mimmo's. Service was good, Food is by far one of the best Italian I've had in my life. No exaggerations. And I thank local folks and Yelp for guiding me to go here. Suggestion: Consider opening one in New York City too. Please.

I'm starting to like Mimmo's alot. I'm a huge fan of their bread rolls. I try not to eat there too much because I'm afraid I cannot control myself. Best pizza in St. Albans by my book. The place is clean, the food is quick and very good.

Great pizza, coffee, and beers. The service was on point and was very welcoming/accommodating. We had the Greek Pizza which was fantastic! Will definitely return!

I will admit it; I am a snob now. This was the first Italian-American food I ate after returning from a semester in Italy and boy was it a mistake! I knew I shouldn't expect anything like what I'd been eating the past four months but even so, I was disappointed. The chicken florentine was bland and tasted almost exclusively of garlic. The pasta had no flavor. It was all just boring. I pouted a little. I still stick by my previous thoughts that that the tomato sauce is really good and the garlic bread is tasty, but other than that, I'd stick with the pizza, salad, and roll-ups on the menu and avoid those pastas. The wine menu is decent for a small town joint. They even had a sangiovese so I was happy overall, even when the waitress thought my California ID was a fake. Whatever lady. Bring me my wine. I need something to help me choke down this chicken!

I have enjoyed their Veggie cold hero on numerous occasions. Their bread is fresh daily and awesome...and the price/portion is great. Haven't strayed from this item, but would recommend. Atmosphere is nice normal italian/pizza shop.

Best pizza in the area! Simone's Special pizza is delicious.

Food was really good till I found a hair in it. Another time I got forced to go for a friends birthday... Yup another hair baked right into my food. Since there are only a few good restaurants in St.A I of course got roped into going again. No hair this time but they messed up our bill. We had to fight them to fix it. Too bad because the food is actually pretty good.

Driving north to a Bball game in Swanton, a perfect excuse to leave early and have dinner at Mimmos. Friday and Saturday nights they fire up the wood burning oven for pizzas. Incredible upgrade to their already awesome pizza. Got seated right away, drinks in no time and food 15 minutes after ordering. Place is buzzing with staff. As always food was awesome, served hot and exactly how we ordered. Wish they could get the Essex location onboard.

Simply the best Italian food in st albans. I went there 2 of my 6 nights in town. Great wine list, food, and service. I loved everything about it.

We went here after a long hike of mount Mansfield. Overall good vibe in the place and outdoor seating. Disappointed that they didn't have any toppings like jalapeño peppers, cherry peppers, banana peppers or anything spicy, just plain green peppers. That was surprising. Our waiter was pretty lame, uninterested. If our server was better we probably would have had some more fun. The pizza was very tasty. Thin crust. See pic. The salad was ok.. The greens were not that great. Would probably go back I guess and hope for another waiter.

We order pizza about once a week from the Mimmos in St. Albans. Much better than the Essex location. Dining in is also much better. They should train their cooks to cook the same quality at all their locations. And the service is much better in St. Albans. I frequent both locations so I can be critical

Very poor food has burnt taste on the bottom quality is low service was acceptable . Will not go back

Consistent food which is a plus. They are also consistent in ensuring the pasta is NOT PROPERLY drained of water before putting it on the plate with the sauce. This cases the red sauce to dilute and be like pasta sauce soup. (Hopefully mgt. takes note for training).

Been here twice. Both times following a football game. Food is good. Portions large. Service is friendly. Today I had garlic bread (delicious) and bolognese (very good). The portion was crazy large. Could easily be split by two people. I'll be having it for lunch the next couple of days.

Consistently too long of a wait for food that isn't that great. Thanks, but no thanks

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
